Hello there! I’m Bethany and I strongly believe that it is time for a change…for the world, for our communities, for our families, and for ourselves. We must think more about how we can create more sustainable habits to maintain a future for the next generation.
In 2015, my husband and I moved to Egypt. This is when pollution became a reality for me. On some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen, we would play a game called “Trash or Treasure?” It was mostly trash, and it really opened my eyes to the severity of the issues surrounding us. Hopefully, you have also become more aware of some of our global issues in the last few years as well.
My goal is not to tell you what the problems are. I think we all know. My goal is to work together to find and share more sustainable (and affordable) options for the everyday person.
Here’s the other issue: the majority of the sites that I find with eco-friendly products are based in the U.S. or the U.K. I don’t live in either of these places, and getting things shipped is…well…not the most sustainable thing. Since we currently live in Lithuania, I will share about the products I have found here.
However, my true calling is in the DIY scene. I am always searching for and finding ways to make things that I want out of what I have (or can find locally). As a child I learned many skills (thanks mom!) including: baking, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, food preservation, gardening, and a few other bits and bobs. So I will share with you how I use these skills to make random things for my daily life.
As a mother and a teacher, I feel that it is important to also teach the next generation how to live more sustainably, using things we have before we go out to buy something. I want to pass on these skills and encourage people to look for the possibility of making your own before purchasing.
