The cool thing about this hat is that there’s a hole in the top of it so if you’re like me and wear your hair up all the time, you can still wear a hat without worrying about a weird bump.
Level of difficulty: Easy, depending on how comfortable you are with a sewing machine.
Time needed: The video says 10, but realistically it’s probably more like 30 minutes.
- Stretchy fabric
- Measuring tape
- Sewing Machine
1. Preview and plan.
Watch the video first to get an idea of what you’ll be doing. Measure the head that will be wearing the hat and make sure you have enough fabric for the project.
2. Measure and cut your fabric.
In my case, the dress I was cutting apart wasn’t quite wide enough to get the piece of material needed to sew this hat. So I cut and sewed one strip of fabric on the end to get the 50 x 50 cm piece of fabric.
3. Follow the steps in the video!
It really was quite easy and almost magical how it turns into this amazingly comfortable and cute hat in the end!
I’m hoping to make more for friends and family out of various other t-shirts that have been retired from regular use. It’s a super quick project with excellent results!
