New Sustainable Discoveries

I realize that it’s been over a month since I’ve posted! As a teacher, once September begins, my life gets crazy! So, rather than doing a full on post, I just wanted to write a bit about a few new sustainable things I’ve discovered recently.

  • New thriftshop purchases

I’ve wanted a jean jacket since high school. When some of my favorite bloggers post about $150 jackets that are on sale for $125, I’d kind of given up on ever owning one. However, when I recently stopped in the thrift store across the street and I happened across this jacket for 13 Euro. Score!

  • Toothpastes

I’ve been very curious about the georganics toothpaste for a while, so when my tooth tabs were finished, I purchased some. I definitely should have read the ingredients before buying. It’s like filling your mouth with clay and oil. I know some people are used to that, but it was not a pleasant experience for me. I will not be buying it again.

The second toothpaste we’ve tried is the Colgate Smile for Good toothpaste. It still comes in a plastic tube, but it’s a nice replacement for the Tom’s of Maine toothpaste that we used to get in the states.

  • Flowers

The seed paper business card that I planted back in April has blossomed into some beautiful flowers! I’m very proud of the fact that it survived not only our crazy cats, but also a move to a new apartment.

  • Johnny Urban Backpack

I was finally able to purchase a computer and I needed a bag to bring it to school every day. Upon doing some research, I came across Johnny Urban backpacks that are made of recycled bottles and vegan leather. It wasn’t crazy expensive and I love it so far!

Have you tried any new sustainable things recently?
